Prevalence of 'Digital Dentistry' drives dynamic detector growth

Vieworks, a leading provider of imaging solutions, announced that it is accelerating sales of dynamic detectors for cone beam CT in line with the digital transformation trend in dentistry.

‘Digital dentistry’ refers to the application of digital technology to streamline the workflow of treatment, from dental diagnosis to orthodontics, treatment, implants, and prosthetics. After digitally visualizing the patient's structures with CT and scanners, 3D CAD design and 3D printers can be used to quickly and accurately fabricate dental structures, making treatment more efficient than traditional analog methods.

Optimized for digital dentistry, dynamic detector VIVIX-D series is characterized by its high compatibility with CBCT systems. The latest panel technology, IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide) thin-film transistors, provides finest image quality and fast image acquisition speed. In addition, it is characterized by the ability to save, restore, and retransmit all images, which enhances the stability of data storage transmitted at high speeds.

Vieworks’ dynamic detector sales have been on a steady growth trend since its launch in 2018. Starting with domestic supply in the first year, the company has expanded sales to more than 30 customers in 12 countries in the first half of this year alone. Revenue for the first half of the year was KRW 22.3 billion, an increase of 28.9% year-on-year, with 50% of the revenue coming from Europe and the Americas, where dental care is a large market.

According to the market research firm, global digital dentistry market revenue is expected to grow from $7.2 billion in 2023 to $12.2 billion in 2028, at a CAGR of 10.9%.
