Vieworks Makes First U.S. Export of VISQUE DPS Slide Scanner
2025-12-30

Vieworks, a leading provider of imaging
solutions, has exported its digital pathology scanner to the United
States for the first time.
The company signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the Americas with Biolyst Scientific, a U.S. supplier of clinical and research equipment with more than 50 years in the market and shipped its first LH510 units.
Vieworks commercialized the VISQUE DPS after about three years of development and field testing, followed by a year of clinical evaluations with Biolyst. Performance in cytology testing was a decisive factor in the agreement.
The scanner converts tissue and cell samples on glass slides into whole slide images. Unlike existing products limited to histopathology slides, it also handles cytology slides of uneven thickness. It uses Realtime Extended Focus, a proprietary technology that captures images at different focal positions with three cameras simultaneously and combines the sharpest regions in real time, delivering resolution comparable to Z-stack imaging without increasing scan time or file size.
A research team led by Professor Chan-Kwon Jung at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital found that images produced with the technology showed significantly better focus quality than competing products. The results were published in an SCI-indexed international journal.
Because a single unit digitizes both histopathology and cytology slides, it reduces equipment and maintenance costs. The system generates up to 83 whole slide images (15x15mm) per hour and holds up to 510 slides. Vieworks plans to expand the lineup with the LH210 model for small and mid-sized hospitals, a compact laboratory scanner, and imaging management software.
